Pork Barrel BBQ pitmasters and co-founders Heath Hall and Brett Thompson led the Pork Barrel BBQ Competition BBQ Team to the top prize at the Sam’s Club National BBQ Tour contest in Pleasantville, New Jersey this weekend. Hall and Thompson are placing their latest Grand Championship trophy among their other prized trophies that are proudly displayed in their Pork Barrel BBQ Restaurant in Alexandria, Virginia.
The two-day barbecue contest, held August 24-25th, featured top teams from across the nation battling for top honors in four barbecue meat categories: chicken, ribs, pork and brisket.
Sam’s Club and the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) sponsor the Sam’s Club National BBQ Tour that consists of over $500,000 in prize money at 25 local contests, five regional contests, and one national championship in Bentonville, Arkansas.
As Grand Champions of this contest, Pork Barrel BBQ qualifies to compete against 30 of the top competition barbecue teams in America on September 15-16th in Chesapeake, Virginia to earn a spot in the Sam’s Club National BBQ Championship in October.
