York Region, Ontario (PRWEB) November 28, 2012
The 6th annual Sanofi Pasteur Healthcare & Biotechnology Venture Challenge 2012 final pitch event takes place Thursday, December 6th, 8:00 A.M.-2:00 P.M., at the MaRS Discovery District, MaRS Centre South Tower, Suite 100, 101 College Street in Toronto. ventureLAB, York Region’s Innovation Centre, and the Schulich School of Business are presentation partners for this exciting business plan competition. The event partner is MaRS.
This competition is designed to test the real-world applicability of tomorrow’s scientific achievements. It fosters and encourages promising business students and scientists, and develops an appetite for health sciences commercialization in Ontario and strengthens the relationship between these two dynamic communities. The challenge will award the commercialization plans, which are most likely to get healthcare products and services out of labs and into commercial markets. Sponsors include pharmaceutical companies Sanofi Pasteur, Dalton Pharma Services, the Ontario Centres of Excellence [OCE], York Region, The Ontario Research and Innovation Optical Network [ORION] RBC and Bereskin & Parr-Intellectual Property Law lawyers.
The Sanofi Pasteur HVBC challenge brings together health technology, biotechnology and biomedical scientists, researchers and innovators and Schulich MBA students. Each team has been assigned a ventureLAB business mentor- an advisor with extensive experience in commercializing technology. In order to qualify, all teams created and submitted business commercialization plans for the healthcare industry earlier this fall. These plans have been assessed on commercial feasibility, growth potential and risk to this point.
On December 6, at this final live pitch event, the teams are competing for more than $10,000 in prizes. The overall winner will be selected and announced live at this event! And the top three will be awarded cash prizes.
The five MBA Students and Innovator team finalists will pitch their solutions to industry experts live on stage.
The final top three teams will then make their final presentation about their business technology and compete for the grand prize.
Our 2011 winner will also speak about their experience and where they are now!
