Scottrade Expands Education Initiative By Launching Branch Seminars, Interactive Financial Planning Calculators

Seminars and tools help consumers better understand their investing options

We have a longstanding commitment to investor education and these seminars allow members of the community the opportunity to learn about online investing.

Scottrade, a leading branch-supported online investment firm, is launching a branch seminar program at many of its more than 375 branch office locations across the country. These informational sessions are available at no cost to the public and cover investing topics ranging from basic order types, to intermediate options to an overview of Scottrade's active trader platform, ScottradeELITE®.

Branch Seminars

Beginning Dec. 15, branch seminars will be offered at branch offices in cities across the country.
Although Scottrade does not give advice on what to trade, the seminars offer a small-scale setting in which participants can learn more about how to trade. They also provide a unique opportunity for attendees to build relationships with other investors in their area.

Financial Planning Calculators

Scottrade is also expanding its online education efforts by introducing new interactive financial planning calculators.
The retirement calculator helps identify retirement goals and how to reach those goals by evaluating expenses, savings and contributions, and the college savings calculator helps determine how much money will be needed to send a child or children to college.
The cost of waiting calculator demonstrates the effect of compounding interest and measures the impact of time on a portfolio, while the IRA calculator helps determine whether a Traditional IRA or Roth IRA is the better choice.

User Summits

Scottrade continues to offer larger-scale User Summits with 24 day-long seminars in 2009 in cities across the country.
During these workshops, attendees learn how to effectively use the online functions and features of Scottrade's trading platforms and how to easily manage their accounts directly from Scottrade product and platform specialists.
