UK Secondhand books get a second chance on Biblion

Biblion Ltd., the British based second hand book dealer marketplace announced strong growth in the first month with the new web site platform in place.

(PRWEB) August 14, 2006 -- In April of this year, Biblion Ltd., and Biblio.com, one of the world's largest marketplaces for used, rare, and out-of-print books, announced their mutual decision to work together to redevelop the Biblion.co.uk online strategy. After 3 months of production and beta-testing, the www.biblion.co.uk was taken live with the new platform in early July.

“We have had more than 250 independent sellers signed up to list with Biblion.co.uk as of August 1st,” says Erik Perera, a representative of Biblion Ltd. “With the prior platform that ran Biblion.co.uk on, we had around 500 dealers signed up. Book dealers that sell with us now have to re-apply in the new system, so it is nice to see our numbers back up so quickly.”

Since the new version of the site launched, Biblion has sold several thousand pounds in books, and is slowly showing an increase in sales week over week.

“We know we have a lot of catching up to do with our basic traffic to the site, and we feel confident that we will see the former customers coming back once the word gets around that Biblion.co.uk is back up and running again,” says Perera. “Our partnership with Biblio.com has turned out to be quite successful, and we are pleased to be working with them closely our site continues to grow.

Biblion.co.uk
The Biblion.com website was conceived as an extension of the shop of the same name in London’s Mayfair. Initially the website was conceived for the use of UK dealers only, but so many requests were made by overseas dealers, that the decision to ‘go international’ was made. With over 500 dealers and 3 million books at the last count, the Biblion.com site has long been a stalwart of the online rare book dealer community and is pressing forward with new developments to help it offer the same great service to more.
