A tender, momentary band aid disguised as an adventure story for those young people who are struggling to feel worthwhile and accepted.

Having worked as a school teacher before, author Shayun Skien encountered a lot of children and young adolescents with all kinds of problem scenarios at school and at home, and often in both. As he seeks to reach out to them to help, he pens the first installment to a series, “The Legend of Palmerskin Hill” — a tender, momentary band aid disguised as an adventure story for those young people who are struggling to feel worthwhile and accepted.
This tale follows a group of teenagers in an isolated piece of paradise who are increasingly disenchanted with the failure of their elders to provide a loving and meaningful life. Add a mysterious mountain which has lured many to their deaths. Throw in an ageing intergalactic rock band that is looking for their next gig — a band whose members include a costume-loving hermaphrodite, Bear who can play a mean riff on the steel guitar and morph into a savage Ursine creature when needed, and a blue-skinned Saurian drummer with a mysterious past.
All of the mysterious pieces of the puzzle above make up the entirety of this exciting tale as Skiens brings readers to another realm. Insightful, “Legend of Palmerskin Hill” highlights the issue of personal development. Presenting ageless problems in a magical realm, this book caters to both the realists and the lovers of fantasy.
