New York, NY (PRWEB) March 25, 2010
25 years ago, the Sheffield School of Interior Design enrolled the first student in its distance education course in Interior Design. Now, the New York-based school has expanded to include courses in Wedding and Event Planning and Feng Shui Interior Design. In 2007 the school shortened its name to Sheffield School, a name that makes more sense as it develops new courses for creative professionals.
Sheffield has just posted its 25th Anniversary Issue of Designer Monthly, the free online magazine for Sheffield students and all fans of good design, which appears at http://www.sheffield.edu.
Until 2003, Sheffield only offered its interior design course, which uses full color texts, audio and video training to teach students from all around the world how to become residential interior designers and decorators. Students submit design projects that are evaluated by professional New York interior designers on digital audio.
In order to provide another perspective on the concepts of interior design and space planning, Sheffield developed the Feng Shui Interior Design Course in 2003. In 2007, Sheffield added its Complete Course in Wedding and Event Planning, which has proved to be very popular with students seeking cutting-edge training in this popular field. As with all Sheffield Courses, Wedding and Event Planning students work at solving real-world situations, culminating in the Sheffield Virtual Internship.
In recent years, Sheffield has used emerging online technologies to strengthen the training in each program and to develop a sense of community, which is very important for distance education students. In addition to reading about the latest news and trends in Designer Monthly at http://www.sheffield.edu, Sheffield students and friends of the school can follow Sheffield on Twitter and Facebook, and enjoy Sheffield's very own blog, The Stylehound. The Sheffield Forum serves as an online gathering place where students can swap ideas on everything from matching an unusual color to negotiating with clients.
The Sheffield School currently has students enrolled from over 130 different counties, and has graduated thousands of trained designers and decorators over the past twenty-five years, helping make the world a better-designed place one graduate at a time.
To provide Sheffield's Interior Design students with the latest developments in the field of interior design and decoration, in the past year Sheffield has introduced six new lessons to the Interior Design Course, the Design Trends series, which includes Green Design, Universal Design, Architectural History, Specialty Rooms, Redesign, and Decluttering, Organization, and Storage.
