Sky Broadband tops the Simplifydigital.co.uk “Broadband Price v Speed Rankings”
The Simplifydigital rankings reveal the best value broadband providers relative to the actual broadband speed they deliver.
(PRWeb UK/PRWEB ) August 12, 2009 -- Broadband speed is absolutely vital for a good web experience, but as reported by Ofcom (28.7.09), consumers are highly unlikely to actually receive the headline speed advertised.
So broadband packages that look cheap, may actually work out very expensive, in terms of the cost per Mb of speed that you actually receive.
Simplifydigital has analysed the current cost of each service to calculate the best value broadband provider in terms of speed delivered, per £ spent. The Simplifydigital Price v Speed Rankings are shown in the table below and show a huge difference in value for money between broadband providers

Winners and losers in Simplifydigital’s Broadband Price v Speed Rankings
Sky Broadband tops the table at £1.14 per Mb of speed. This is less than half the cost of BT Broadband and offers great value for money.
Sky Broadband is only available to Sky TV customers, so for those people who do not want Sky TV with their broadband - Tiscali, Plusnet, Virgin Media and TalkTalk all offer broadband at under £2 per Mb. This is relative to BT which comes bottom of the table, costing £2.93 per Mb.

The data is based on Simplifydigital’s own package price data and Ofcom’s recent research on actual broadband speeds. The Ofcom research provides statistically significant broadband speed data for the first time as it is based on over 60 million service performance tests in over 1,600 broadband households between November 2008 and April 2009.
