Sisters Academy in Asbury Park Recently Celebrated their Much-Anticipated Groundbreaking
Mercy Center of Asbury Park, NJ recently hosted "Building a Future Full of Hope -- A Groundbreaking Celebration" commencing construction of the new SIsters Academy addition.
Asbury Park, NJ (PRWEB) April 30, 2009 -- Mercy Center of Asbury Park recently commenced construction of the new Sisters Academy addition by hosting "Building a Future Full of Hope - A Groundbreaking Celebration". Sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, the Sisters Academy's mission is to educate students from economically challenged families, and provide them with access to a private high school and college education.
The Mercy Center Board of Trustees, Pre-Structured Building Systems of Fair Haven, Sister Carol Ann Henry, RSM, and Sister Mary Louise Miller,RSM celebrate the groundbreaking
"This groundbreaking not only represented a better learning environment for our students, but it also kicked off the Asbury Park Springwood Avenue Redevelopment Plan," said Sister Carol Ann Henry, RSM, Executive Director of Mercy Center. "This event was five years in the making, and we are all ready to celebrate this great accomplishment on behalf of Mercy Center, Sisters Academy, our generous donors, our students, their families and the Asbury Park community!"
The $2.39 million, almost 14,000 square foot addition will be built by Pre-Structured Building Systems, Inc. of Fair Haven and is scheduled for completion in time for the 2010-2011 school year.
"As Sisters Academy developed and refined its programs, space became a pressing issue," Sister Mary Louise Miller, RSM, Principal of Sisters Academy explained. "The new facility will meet ADA requirements and will provide increased classroom space, an interdenominational chapel, a playground and so much more!"
Established in 1997, Sisters Academy is a middle school for students in grades five through eight. The Academy is dedicated to educating girls in an academically stimulating and highly disciplined learning environment.
Sisters Academy graduates hold impressive records with 100% of the eligible alumnae graduating from high school and 87% of alumnae attending either college or other higher education.
