Linkin Park and Music For Relief’s ‘Power The World’ campaign asks fans to use their voice to support Sustainable Energy For All, by signing a pledge to help the 1.3 Billion people worldwide who have no access to electricity. Without electricity, children cannot study after dark, parents cannot work once the sun sets and clinics cannot offer life-saving medical help. Linkin Park launched Power the World to raise awareness and help bring clean energy solutions to the 1 in 5 people worldwide who do not currently have access to energy. One example of the clean energy solutions Power the World will highlight on the upcoming Honda Civic Tour is the Solar Suitcase from non-profit partner WE CARE Solar. The WE CARE Solar Suitcase brings lights, power and hope to health facilities in regions without reliable electricity. It is an economical, easy-to-use portable power unit that provides health workers with highly efficient medical lighting and power to help save lives.
The ‘Power The World’ campaign is also helping another a clean energy partner, Nokero (http://www.nokero.com), a for-profit social enterprise that is bringing solar light bulbs to the world’s energy poor. Nokero’s founder, Steve Katsaros says: “It is amazing to see how Linkin Park and Music For Relief have shined a light on energy poverty that cripples about 20% of the world’s population. [it is] so exciting to have partners like this during the UN’s Year of Sustainable Energy for All.”
