South Florida Commuter Services Launches Public Transit Promotion to Feature Carpool Video on CNN
Videos to showcase how South Florida commuter options save money and help preserve the environment.
Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) May 1, 2009 -- South Florida Commuter Services, the regional commuter assistance program funded by the Florida Department of Transportation, will give students and video aficionados the opportunity to see their next video on CNN by creating a 30-second Public Service Announcement demonstrating how using public transit, carpooling or biking are a great way to save money and help preserve the planet.
"We are committed to educating the public on the various commuter options available to them," said Jim Udvardy, project director, South Florida Commuter Services. "By incorporating new media techniques, and offering a great incentive, we hope to engage the public in this promotion and spread awareness of the benefits of using commuter options such as public transit, biking or carpooling to get to and from work or school."
Enthusiasts are encouraged to visit www.1800234RIDE.com through May 29, 2009 for more information on how to upload an original, fun and creative public service announcement. Entries can demonstrate concepts such as how riding the bus or train costs less or gets you around South Florida faster than driving, or even how carpooling can take one more car off the road to reduce air pollution.
Upon completion of the promotion, a panel of judges will select one winner, who will have their video aired on CNN compliments of Comcast, become the featured video on South Florida Commuter Services' YouTube Channel and win one transit monthly pass. Four runners up will receive one transit monthly pass each.
"We believe that this promotion will spark some creativity and provide people with a new way to view commuter options," Udvardy said.
South Florida Commuter Services helps promote ride sharing options for commuters in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie Counties. The organization provides commuters with information on the various modes available and works closely with employers to identify commuter issues and provide support to relieve these issues.
