South Lake Tahoe, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) January 28, 2011
The off season is a great time to visit South Lake Tahoe for special occasions such as bachelor parties, bachelorette parties, anniversaries, birthdays, or company retreats. Most people booking South Lake Tahoe vacation rentals are focusing on the popular seasons of summer and winter. There are a lot of advantages to booking during the “off-seasons” like October & May. The number one advantage is lower nightly rates. Most Lake Tahoe Rental companies offer discounted rates during the slower seasons to try to generate more bookings. Also, being a slower season, there are less visitors in town giving you easier access to activities, events and shows — some of which offer lower rates during the slower seasons as well. Some of the activities you can enjoy in the fall are hiking, biking, sightseeing cruises, horseback riding and watching the aspen tree leaves change color. Another advantage of the autumn season is the mild temperatures we experience; warm days and cool nights are the norm in early autumn. It is typically mild during the month of October, occasionally there can be small snow storms, but they are rare.
The days become shorter and shorter as the sun drops over the lake. The air gains a crisp sensation and the throngs of summer visitors head home. The waters revert to a calm, serene beauty, and the trails return to peaceful, natural wonders. The trees showcase an oasis of red, gold and orange set against the incomparable emerald-blue color of Lake Tahoe. Autumn at Lake Tahoe affords visitors a charming holiday retreat. Several trails offer breathtaking views of fall foliage and create ideal photo opportunities. A few trails to hike: Page Meadows outside Tahoe City, Meeks Bay Trail just north of Emerald Bay on the west shore, Five Lakes Trail in Alpine Meadows and Ellis Peak Trail in the west shore's Blackwood Canyon. The paved bike path along the Truckee River from Olympic Valley to Tahoe City delivers an equally magical view.
Considered the off-season, Lake Tahoe jam packs events into the autumn months. The premier fall event, The Lake Tahoe Autumn Food and Wine Festival, celebrates culinary delights in the Lake Tahoe area. Other notable events to check out: The Art Bark Festival for pet lovers, the Great Pumpkin Carnival, Tahoe City's Harvest Festival and Oktoberfest. For outdoor adventurers, the Lake Tahoe Triathlon, Tahoe Rim Trail Hike-a-Thon and the Lake Tahoe Marathon tests athletic prowess.
After summer's gone but before the snow flies, Lake Tahoe extends several activities to enjoy. A few entertaining outings in Lake Tahoe: hiking, fishing, horseback riding, kayaking, biking, golf and tennis. Lake Tahoe's south shore offers tourists the glitz of casinos and headlining entertainment, along with beautiful vacation rental homes. A cruise on the lake provides stunning views and exquisite scenery. The possibilities abound when it comes to activities at Lake Tahoe, there's something for everyone!
Autumn weather at Lake Tahoe is spectacular. High temperatures reach between 50-70 degrees and lows dip into the 30's.
