Saint Jude Retreats announces new Option Expansion Workshops that are provided to guests of the Mountain Retreat, located in Wells, New York. The two new classes that will be added are: Joe Survivor and Fencing Club. The classes provide guests of the St. Jude Program the opportunity to experience new activities as well as learn valuable skills. Fencing Club provides a physical demonstration of focus, hitting a target, dedication and responsibility, which are all helpful for people seeking to overcome substance use problems.

Jim Ruliffson, Director of the Mountain Retreat and instructor of the Fencing Program, is thrilled about the interest in the new programs, "Our guests seem to really be enjoying them and not only are they reinforcing the skills taught in our program; by participating, they are getting the chance to explore new activities and gain life experiences. That's what this is all about." Ruliffson has over 15 years experience in fencing and has been part of numerous fencing clubs around the nation. The fencing program is a no contact sport and instead uses modern censors to score each player.

The Joe Survivor class takes place on Saturdays opposite of hike days and is instructed by Joseph Reynolds, an instructor at the Mountain Retreat who is also an experienced guide and an avid outdoorsman. There will be a series of three workshops guests can participate in which will include: building survival shelters, creating a permanent fire, and tracking awareness. These workshops will work on additional skills such as attitude and self-reliance.

The Mountain Retreat is set in the Adirondack Mountains and is a perfect environment for a substance user to discover peace and tranquility. These elements allow guests to experience unique programs such as those in the Option Expansion Workshops.
