Social Media Campaign Increases Awareness About Substance Use

It is the goal of this campaign to inspire those in need of change, by providing them with a message of hope, because change is possible.

Saint Jude Retreats is proud to announce an awareness education campaign online aimed to increase awareness about substance use and to instill hope in others that they can overcome a drug and/or alcohol problem. The organization will use the social networking site facebook to launch this campaign beginning June 21, 2012. In addition the organization has agreed to donate $1 dollar per every like to the Saint Jude Retreats Scholarship Fund which helps make this program readily available to a multitude of people. Representatives from Saint Jude Retreats are hoping to raise this amount by fall of this year.

The Saint Jude Retreats fan page on facebook is an informative tool to educate others on addictions and trends in the industry, provides motivational photos and stories, and also educates their audience on what exactly they do and how they have been successfully breaking out from traditional treatment models.

Even if the people we reach are not in need of our services, it is an opportunity for them to pass along the information found at Saint Jude’s, a simple "Like" might help someone get back on the right path in their life--we are hoping to reach as many people as possible, but 10,000 is our goal.” commented Daniel Hidalgo, Executive Marketing Director.

Saint Jude’s program is significantly different from conventional alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs available in the United States. This non disease based program employs cognitive behavioral education methods to guide people to change on their own, with a positive and motivational process.

"It all comes down to choices," Michelle Dunbar, Executive Director states, “Addiction treatment teaches people they are suffering from an incurable disease that renders them powerless over substances. This is wrong and it takes away two key components required to overcome substance use problems, responsibility for our actions and hope for a better future."
