Thoughtful college planning can pay off in more ways than one. First, it can help students identify the best possible college fit for their future. It can also earn them scholarship awards, thanks to two promotions recently launched by StudentEdge.com. Live Life Smart and Win for Your School are scholarship programs running from September 1 through November 23, 2009, with weekly chances for students to win one of 12 $1,000 prizes and for schools to compete for two weeks at a time for a chance to win one of six $1,000 prizes.

"StudentEdge is not only the fastest growing college planning resource center around, but is also a source of scholarship assistance for many students," said Molly Baab, Director of StudentEdge. "Over the last two years, we have awarded more than $40,000 in scholarship funds, and we are excited to be able to offer the opportunity for students to win 12 scholarship awards again, each worth $1,000."

To participate in Live Life Smart, you need to be a registered user of StudentEdge, and log in to StudentEdge up to five times a day. Each week, the student with the most logins wins $1,000 that can be used to pay for college.

The Win for Your School scholarship program is designed to recognize and reward school communities that are encouraging students, parents, and educators to work together and utilize the college planning tools available in StudentEdge. Every two weeks during the scholarship contest period, the school with the most new registered users wins $1,000 that can be used at the school's discretion. Each new student registration counts as one entry; new administrator and parent accounts are tallied as two entries.

During this difficult economic period when tight state budgets are squeezing school budgets, Peterson's is proud to be able to support schools with unrestricted funds.

If your school is not one of the 2,000 schools nationwide already using StudentEdge, school administrators can register the school at no cost to students or the school, so that the school can immediately begin competing for scholarship funds.

StudentEdge includes interactive tools to aid the college search and selection process by helping users systematically narrow down their choices based on criteria that are most important to them academically, socially, and financially.
