SunGard has been named as "Best Banking Technology Provider" in the Banker Middle East Industry Awards 2009.

The annual Banker Middle East awards recognise excellence, achievement and innovation across the Middle East finance industry. The publication's 7,000 plus readers are asked to vote for the institutions they believe have delivered exceptional performance over the past year. Nominees must demonstrate the highest levels of quality, consistency and innovation across the solutions and services they provide. Winners in each category are chosen by a panel of judges. SunGard was chosen from a shortlist of nine nominees.

Wissam Khoury, managing director, Middle East for SunGard's financial systems business, commented: "SunGard currently provides a range of solutions and services to financial institutions in the Middle East, addressing areas such as private, commercial and retail banking, capital markets, alternative investments and energy trading. We're committed to continuously develop and enhance these solutions and services to help support our customers as they face new and difficult industry challenges. This award clearly demonstrates the value of that commitment."
