Powered by Supreme Protein Bars, Ocean County SWAT Team Rolls to Its Second Straight World SWAT Championship

The Southern Ocean County SWAT team dominated a 20-team field made up of elite law enforcement teams from around the world, placing 1st in four events and second in three others (out of 10 total events) on the way to winning its second consecutive World SWAT Challenge championship in Little Rock, Arkansas last week. The team's commanding officer, Sgt. Herman Pharo of the Stafford Township Police Department, credits his Ocean County NJ unit's superb conditioning and unwavering discipline, along with a little help from the team's favorite ultra-anabolic snack, Supreme Protein® bars.

Manasquan, NJ (PRWEB) April 19, 2008 -- The Southern Ocean County NJ SWAT team doesn't know a thing about losing.

There's too much competitive spirit in these guys. We'll be back. We're always looking for the next challenge.
That's because they never have. What began as a bit of a lark two years ago, when Ocean County SWAT team members entered a Harrisburg PA regional SWAT competition "just to see how we would measure up" as team commander, Sgt. Herman Pharo remembers it, has now evolved into quite a winning streak. The team earned its second consecutive World SWAT Challenge championship last week in Little Rock, Arkansas, surprising an elite field consisting of some of the best police tactical teams from around the world.

Three official competitions. Three victories. Not bad, when you consider that there are teams that have been competing for several years without a win.

"Others may have been surprised, but we were probably more confident this year," Sgt. Pharo relates. "We had a better idea of what to expect, going in, this year, and we really trained hard. Our normal training regimen encompasses most of what we encountered in the SWAT Challenge, so we were able to expand on that and really take it up another level this time, improving our conditioning, teamwork, and tactical efficiency. With regard to our improved strength and stamina, we owe a large part of that to an increased focus on nutrition. We emphasize eating consistently and cleanly. Top-quality protein, targeted carbs, and healthy fats. Supreme Protein® bars have really helped us out there."

Pharo, a sergeant with the Stafford Township NJ Police Department as well as team commander of the South Ocean County SWAT team, is a big believer in the notion of maintaining superb conditioning as a foundation for achieving team goals both in competitive events and in everyday police work.

"You've heard of two-a-days? How about all-days?" Sgt. Pharo says. "Ocean County SWAT gets ready for competition with nonstop sprint intervals, circuit workouts and rigorous obstacle courses. In addition to SWAT, we perform our duties as police officers in departments that pride themselves on physical fitness."

In the midst of such hectic schedules, eating well can be a challenge. "We're often forced to grab meals on the go, so Supreme Protein® has become a staple part of our fit officer's diets. The Supreme Protein® bar has more premium whey isolate than any other bar of its kind and its entire nutritional profile is really first rate. It supplies the energy and muscle rebuilding power to enable our team to hit it hard hour after hour, day after day. We know of no other protein bar that performs like Supreme Protein®, and no other bar that tastes this good. In fact, all the guys take them on the road with them while on patrol so they always have a healthy meal on hand."

Given the dominant nature of the Ocean County SWAT team's performance in Little Rock, which included four 1st Place, three 2nd Place and one 3rd Place finish among 10 events contested by 20 teams, it would seem that Sgt. Pharo's training and eating philosophies are a blueprint for success.

Now that the Ocean County SWAT team has discovered that it "measures up" pretty well against the world's best, is there a temptation to take those back-to-back championships and walk away, undefeated?

"Oh, no," Sgt. Pharo says. "There's too much competitive spirit in these guys. We'll be back. We're always looking for the next challenge."
