SlideBelts, an e-commerce apparel and emerging wearable technology company, has launched “The Carry Less, Adventure More: Survival Belt" Kickstarter project. The Survival Belt is a multi-purpose belt that pairs a U.S. crafted buckle, refined over 5 generations, with a rugged, durable, and waterproof strap, also manufactured in the U.S. The project, which ends on September 20, 2014, has quickly surpassed their initial goal of $60,000 and some projections have it raising close to $500,000. More than 1,500 backers have already pledged over $138,000.
Supporters contributions on Kickstarter will help fund:
“Countless adventurers value a minimalist design that can perform in the backcountry,” said Rick Lilley, Director of Product Management at SlideBelts. “As technology evolves, we like to carry less, but still expect our outdoor gear to maintain simplicity, durability, and versatility. We want to craft a belt that embodies this.”
Pending funding of their project goals, adventurers can utilize the 2,000 pound tensile strength to secure their gear. An integrated fire starter is ready to spark a fire, while the concealed bottle opener is available to crack open one’s favorite beverage. Outdoor enthusiasts can use the multi-tool for light tasks around their base camp. Even though one is deep in the backcountry, they should not lose their way with the GPS unit, in select belts.
