Synology® Releases Case Study: How One Company Increases Productivity and Global Efficiency by Using Their Own Storage and File Solutions
Synology® America Corp. released a case study demonstrating how its productivity and efficiency world-wide has increased after implementing its own file server and backup solution using the Synology Disk Stations as an alternative solution to PC servers.
Redmond, Wash. (Vocus/PRWEB ) June 16, 2009 -- Synology® America Corp. released a case study demonstrating how its productivity and efficiency world-wide has increased after implementing its own file server and backup solution using the Synology Disk Stations as an alternative solution to PC servers.
Synology®, a global provider of network attached storage devices faced the same challenge that many growing companies face. How to implement a reliable, easy to manage, high performing, scalable and secure file and backup system. Fortunately Synology did not have to look far to find a solution that met all of their needs and most importantly was affordable. Synology replaced all existing PC servers with its own Disk Station series products in early 2009 in order to thrive in the versatile and highly competitive global market.
"We chose to implement our own Disk Stations company wide, after experiencing upgrade issues, downtime and rising costs with other hardware," says Technical Product Specialist, Franklin Hua of Synology America Corp. "We needed an affordable solution that just worked and didn't give us any problems so we could focus on our business," adds Hua. "It was an easy solution and we're very pleased that the results have been so outstanding."
Four Synology RS409+ models are being used to provide external internet services; including the hosting of the official company websites, official Synology forum, the firmware download site, and the European mirrored download site. "As of March 31, 2009, the page views of www.synology.com reached over 4 million, and the webpage requests reached 29.6 million," commented Alex Wang, network administrator at Synology Inc. "And it was all served by a single Synology RS409+ Disk Station.," Wang added.
In addition to the RS409+ being used as a web server, Synology is also using four other units ranging from 2-bay to 5-bay Synology Disk Stations and a DX5 to share and back up work-related files for their employees in their Taiwan and US offices. The Disk Stations are being used to store and protect confidential HR files, manage their DNS servers and provide remote access to employees working off-site. In addition, Synology uses their Disk Stations to real-time monitor and record the premises of their offices in Taiwan and in the US with Surveillance Station 2, their integrated surveillance application.
"We are proud to release the case study since we are very satisfied with the features, applications and performance delivered after the migration from PC servers to our Disk Station," says Edward Lin, Marketing Director at Synology Inc. "The case study offers mid-sized companies insight into their choices for managing their network environments efficiently and cost-effectively without the added licensing cost, time commitments, and complexity of their traditional PC servers," adds Lin.
