For today’s travelers who are looking for more than just fun and sun on their vacations abroad, the Tourism Authority of Thailand Los Angeles (TAT LA) today announced the launch of the “Thailand's Ultimate Moments”. Designed as a competition, the campaign provides adventurers with the chance to explore Thailand’s exotic culture and stunning geography while enjoying a purposeful holiday.
“Volunteer tourism, or ‘voluntourism’ has become increasingly popular with young American travelers, who want to positively affect the lives of others,” said Kulpramote Wannalert, Director, TAT LA. “We are focusing on this popular trend by providing amazing opportunities for tourists to experience these transformative adventures in Thailand.”
The “Thailand's Ultimate Moments” is a contest in which three teams, each composed of three people, work for ten days on assigned community development projects in Thailand. Possible projects include helping teach English to local children, assisting with nature conservation efforts and participating in river cleanup activities, among others. The teams chosen will create social media content about their preparations for the trip to Thailand, as well as their volunteer experiences in-country and their return to life the United States. Teams will be judged on how creative and engaging their content is, along with their social media reach. The winning team will win a $1,000 (USD) grant for their community project and a cash prize of $500 (USD) to be shared among team members. Travel and accommodations during the contest are provided by TAT LA.
