This is marvellous news for Hucknall, considering that the Ashgate Retail Park, which has stagnated un-occupied for the past 12 months or more in the aftermath of the recession, will now pick up, offering jobs and great shopping.

One of the UK’s most popular discount retailers will this weekend open a half-million pound store opposite Tesco in the Ashgate Retail Park in Hucknall.
Home Bargains has more than 200 stores throughout the United Kingdom, 15 of them in the East Midlands including one in Sutton-in-Ashfield and another in Mansfield. The chain is famous for selling brand-name goods at bargain-basement prices, from toys, health and clothing to furniture and beauty lines.
Joe Morris, Operations Director at Home Bargains, said that his company is excited to be opening this new store in Hucknell, especially as it builds further on their success across Nottingham.
Executive Careers Consultancy UK Knack Group’s chief executive officer says, “This is marvellous news for Hucknall, considering that the Ashgate Retail Park, which has stagnated un-occupied for the past 12 months or more in the aftermath of the recession, will now pick up, offering jobs and great shopping.”
The news is a marvellous fillip for the Ashgate Retail Park; it already boasts an Argos Extra outlet and for the delight of pet owners, the store Kennelgate, which sells pets food.
The UK Knack Group has announced further that the ambitions of Home Bargains extend to the opening of another 50 stores nationwide, many of which will take over premises of the now-defunct Woolworths. “This will be so good, not only for Home Bargains and in terms of job prospects but for the area’s economy. Big companies work big and employ big. Everyone’s a winner when a development like this one comes on the drawing board.”
