2. Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater Hot Summer Nights: Running through Aug. 18, this annual free summer concert series takes place Tuesdays at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail. Upcoming acts include Super Diamond, a Neil Diamond cover band, and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. The latter act is coming up from New Orleans to perform some of their hometown standards, but also their own blend of R&B, jazz, funk, Afro-Latino grooves and Caribbean flavor. Alderwood Resort Group recommends guests staying at Eagle Point arrive at the venue early for Hot Summer Happy Hour at 4:30 p.m. Crazy Mountain Brewery is hosting yard games, free music and beer tastings. The doors open at 4:30 p.m. and all shows start at 6:30 p.m.
3. Vail International Dance Festival: A celebration of all dance forms, the 26th annual Vail International Dance Festival takes place July 27 through Aug. 9. The event features many forms of dance from around the world, and has garnered an international reputation. Alderwood Resort Group says artists that have visited the festival in the past include the Pacific Northwest Ballet, New York City Ballet MOVES and stars from the Moscow Stanislavsky Ballet. Tickets start at $20.
