The fun and viral nature of social media make Facebook campaigns like this one an easy, cost-effective way for The CHF Oregon Chapter to raise funds, and to improve the lives of children in the Pacific Northwest.

Oregon (PRWEB) December 31, 2013

How do you take the joy and heart-warming glow of the holiday season and make it last year after year? The Children’s Heart Foundation’s Oregon Chapter aims to do just that by raising funds for life-saving research for children with Congenital Heart Defects. Every 15 minutes, a child is born with CHD, making it the most common birth defect in the United States. Through January 2014, The CHF Oregon Chapter is using Facebook and social media to tap into the giving spirit of the season to improve the lives of children and families affected.

Gavyn is one such child. At only two weeks old, Oregon native Gavyn required emergency surgery after being born with Congenital Heart Disease. Gavyn is now an active, fun-loving 10 year-old thanks to advancements in scientific research and medicine - made possible by donations and the support of the community.

Through January 31st, 2014, The CHF Oregon Chapter is running a holiday fundraising campaign so that the organization can continue to help even more children like Gavyn. The Oregon chapter aims to raise $5,000, which will directly fund one critical research project in the coming year. To reach their goal, The CHF Oregon Chapter is once again partnering with Oregon-based CafeGive Social -a social media apps and cause marketing solutions company- to harness the power of social media.

Those wishing to make a tax-deductible donation to The CHF Oregon Chapter this holiday season can simply log into their Facebook account and donate through the Oregon Chapter’s page. Fans and followers can see their donation make a difference for children in need in real time, as the virtual thermometer instantly updates. To double its reach, The Oregon Chapter added CafeGive Social’s Donate App to its homepage so that people have even more opportunities to donate to their local The CHF chapter. After donating, supporters can easily raise even more funds and awareness for The CHF by clicking the built-in social sharing buttons. Each Tweet and Facebook share brings in more support for The CHF and the children and families it serves.

At $3,225, The CHF Oregon Chapter is already 65% of the way towards its online fundraising goal, and dozens of people have helped share the campaign by re-posting and tweeting the initiative. In fact, if just 120 more people each donate $15, The CHF Oregon Chapter will be able to fund its next research project and help save countless lives through medical advancement and innovation.

The CHF Oregon Chapter has used CafeGive Social’s suite of mobile and social apps for several successful campaigns, including mobile fundraising during its annual Vinolympics event. For #GivingTuesday 2013, CafeGive Social launched a Like Us, Give Back campaign in support of The CHF and to celebrate the second annual day of giving back.

Like many nonprofits, The CHF Oregon Chapter is entirely volunteer-run, and it’s through the dedication of its community, local businesses, and a team of committed individuals that the organization is able to invest in industry-changing medical services. The fun and viral nature of social media make Facebook campaigns like this one an easy, cost-effective way for The CHF Oregon to raise funds, and to improve the lives of children in the Pacific Northwest.
