New York Rediscovers Best View Above Beat of Times Square
Provocative design by Jordan Mozer, a treat for the senses.
New York, New York (PRWEB) November 10, 2007 -- Guests will rediscover Times Square in an intimate setting when they arrive at the newly redesigned Renaissance New York Hotel Times Square. Here, the guests watch as the parade of Times Square takes place from the inside; a theatre within the Broadway theatre district, where guests may watch each other - and Times Square. In a major departure from its traditional and understated décor, the hotel has undergone a $24 million renovation that has transformed it to an eye-opening, exciting setting with a spectacular view in which to relax, entertain and do business. From the highest guest room floor to the hotel's dramatic new street entrance on Seventh Avenue and West 47th Street, every inch of this 310-room luxury hotel in Times Square has a brand new look and feel. An extraordinary leap in design concept takes into consideration the way today's travelers work, eat, play and relax.
Artist designer Jordan Mozer, architect Jeff Carloss and their team of artisans have created a modern grand hotel great room and sensual public spaces populated with idiosyncratic, one-of-a-kind furnishings. Every design element, visually organic and sensual, has been made by hand. The public areas are conceived as theatres within the Broadway theatre district; some intimate, some to watch the spectacle of Times Square - and others, for guests to watch one another. More socially active guests may opt for the communal table, where they can strike up a conversation tableside. The hotel's new restaurant, which makes its official debut in January 2008, has three enormous window walls overlooking the electronic chaos of Times Square. Its menu, created by chef and restaurateur Zak Pellacio, will feature Asian-inspired cuisine. The restaurant will be a place both New Yorkers and visitors will want to know about.
"Our goal was to create vibrant, sensual and unique public spaces with intimate corners, a series of theatres within the theatre district where guests could watch the spectacle of Times Square and socialize with each other," said Jordan Mozer. "Every element of the design has been created from scratch, in studios and workshops in the Midwest, which makes this a unique environment within New York City."
The hotel incorporates the spirit of Times Square, but within an environment that transcends the activity below. Times Square is a glowing, kinetic, amplified "electronic plaza" - reflected in the interior design, but in a more inviting, comfortable way. Three stories above, the restaurant's visual focus is the rich, deep tangerine color of its hand-made seating, complemented by natural walnut tables. Once seated, guests sit literally over Times Square, in a room that has without a doubt the best view of the pulsing streets and lights surrounding it and below.
Above the hotel's public areas, all of its 310 guest rooms have undergone a total make-over, with interior design by Callison, the Seattle-based architectural design firm. Guest rooms feature a palette of soft gold, sand and terracotta colors, with accents of deep blue. All rooms include flat screen televisions and new Plug-In technology.
The Renaissance New York Hotel Times Square opened in 1992, when Times Square was beginning its transformation from a challenging area for tourism and business, to its present reputation as New York City's successful neighborhood of Broadway theatres, entertainment, retail, corporate business and fine dining.
Renovations at the hotel began in May 2007 and expected completion of the entire project is early January 2008. The Renaissance New York Hotel Times Square is located at 2 Times Square, between West 47th and West 48th Streets in New York City.
