Leading donation gift card provider TisBest Philanthropy released today an impact report reviewing the giving behavior TisBest Charity Gift Card recipients in 2013. Data gathered from thousands of charity gift card donations reveals interesting trends in charitable giving choices.
"We find it very valuable to reflect on the previous year and take a look at the choices TisBest Charity Gift Card recipients make when donating the funds on their cards," said TisBest Executive Director Jon Siegel. "We're able to evaluate the relative popularity of each cause category, which charities are donated to most often, and how this data compares to past years."
The 2013 chart reports that the ten most popular charities from TisBest's charity partner list of more than 300 national and local organizations were:
10. Feeding America
9. Alzheimer's Association
8. Humane Society of the United States
7. Best Friends Animal Society
6. Make-A-Wish Foundation
5. Doctors Without Borders
4. American Red Cross
3. American Cancer Society
2. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
This lists replaces just one of the ten most popular charities of 2012, American Humane Association, and welcomes Best Friends Animal Society to the top ten list for the first time.
"This information helps us understand the choices charity gift card spenders make, and how we can continue to improve our communication to our community about the causes they feel most passionate about," said Siegel.
The 2013 impact chart also details some of the recognition TisBest received in 2013, including the GuideStar Gold Exchange seal, a Top-Rated Nonprofit award from GreatNonprofits, and an award from the Conductor Foundation. TisBest was also recognized as a finalist in Stanford CCARE's Compassion and Technology Contest.

About TisBest Philanthropy:
TisBest Philanthropy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering the growth of non-material gift-giving. TisBest created charity gift cards in 2007. Charity gift cards work like conventional gift cards, but with one important exception: the recipient of a charity gift card "spends" it by choosing a charity to receive the funds.
With a TisBest Charity Gift Card, you make the donation and your recipient decides how to spend the donation, choosing from TisBest's 300+ charity partners. TisBest cards are customizable at no additional cost, and have become increasingly popular as consumer and business gifts. Learn more at http://www.tisbest.org.
