At the start of August, the guys at Toolbox (an online retailer of power tools & other equipment) announced the winner of the iPad2 competition which had been running for 2 months on their Facebook page. Obviously there was a lot of tension as everyone was desperate to get their hands on a freebie worth over £300, but there could be only one winner...
Stuart Wright was the person lucky enough to be picked randomly from a pool of over 3,000 entries. Toolbox announced him as the winner; however, there was concern when Stuart didn’t reply to claim his prize for over 3 weeks. Eventually, he got in contact and the iPad2 was whisked off to him. A couple of days later he replied to the Toolbox team with a thank-you message and a picture of himself with the iPad2, which can be seen on the Toolbox Facebook page by clicking here.
James Cook, part of the marketing team at Toolbox who organised this giveaway said; “Stuart was a great guy to talk to and extremely deserving of winning this prize. We hope he enjoys his brand new iPad2 and we certainly hope that he’ll return to Toolbox in the future if he has any sudden need for tools or other equipment!”
When it comes to social networking competitions, it’s always nice and reassuring to have the winners post a picture of themselves and a message. There are a lot of online businesses out there who host fake competitions with no intentions of giving a prize away, simply to get likes; this is where Toolbox differentiate themselves from the rest.
Scott Morris, Marketing Manager stated: “We host these competitions because we feel it’s important to give something back to the people that have supported Toolbox since we started online. It’s always beneficial to engage users/fans and build relationships where possible as this lets them know that we’re real people as well. Obviously there’s going to be people, who are disappointed at not winning, but we understand that and that’s why we’re creating a brand new giveaway competition including a Dewalt power tool kit that starts next month!”
