Author Tracie Tackett’s “A Pleasing Disciple” (published by iUniverse) is a study guide for the Bible designed to help the reader develop a more intimate relationship with Christ. She will present the book at the 2013 Guadalajara Book Fair, Nov. 30-Dec. 4, 2013, in Guadalajara, Mexico. Created 27 years ago by the University of Guadalajara, the fair is aimed at professionals and the general public alike.
Written with both the new convert and the longtime churchgoer in mind, Tackett’s book touches on various aspects of Christian life such as being content, having an effective prayer life, standing firm for one’s faith and living by the standard of God’s word.
An excerpt from the book “A Pleasing Disciple” shows how life can be made simple:
“Wouldn’t parenting, marriage and living the assertive life be easier if we had an owner’s manual that gave specific instructions. the Bible has all the guidelines for us to achieve those successful personal goals, but only through Christ Jesus.”
The lessons are in the form of short and easy-to-understand chapters that use examples from daily life rather than complex theological terms. Each chapter is interspersed with verses from the Bible that support the lessons taught. At the end of every chapter is a set of review questions that help the reader reflect and gain more insight into the points discussed before. The book aims to help the reader walk more in the footsteps of Christ.
