When her editor at Barbour Publishing told Norma Jean they were looking for historical fiction, she knew immediately that she would write a series of books about the Tulsa race riot.
“Not only was I interested in this local historical event,” Norma Jean said, “I was also fascinated with the era of the twenties. It was a revolutionary time in America’s history.”
Once this author of over 50 published titles made the decision to write the series, she said, “I sat up late one night scribbling notes and within a few hours I had thumbnail sketches for all four books. My editor approved the entire series within a just a few days. That began an incredible journey for me back into history.”
The four-title series includes:
Tulsa Tempest relates the experiences of a young country girl, Tessa Jurgen, who comes to the big city of Tulsa to serve as governess to the children of an oil baron. She is unwittingly thrown into the midst of a simmering cauldron of racial tension.
The first release of Tulsa Tempest, saw many positive reviews, one of which stated:
A definite page-turner in every sense! It's a great historical read that is entwined with a sweet romance. ~ Romance Reader at Heart
“The story of Tessa Jurgen is timeless,” says Norma Jean. “Many satisfied readers loved Tessa when the books were first published in the 90s; I’m confident a new legion of readers will feel the same way.”
The re-release of Tulsa Tempest is slated for June, 2012.
