Bourne Leisure Named Britain's Second Best Big Company to Work For
Bourne Leisure, one of the UK's largest travel companies has been named as the second best big company to work for in the UK in the prestigious annual Times Online Survey of employee satisfaction in the workplace.
Hemel Hempstead, UK (PRWEB) March 11, 2009 -- The parent company of Haven Holidays - Bourne Leisure - has been named as the second best big company in Britain to work for. The company, which is one of the biggest employers in Hemel Hempstead, jumped 13 places in the rankings to achieve the number 2 spot in the prestigious Sunday Times rankings.
Financial services companies dominated the top 20, with the giant KPMG in first place, which meant that Bourne Leisure was the highest ranked leisure and hospitality company to be listed.
The Haven Holidays parent, which also includes the Butlins and Warner Leisure Hotels brands was also named as the most improved company in the list.
Aside from the 700 staff at the Bourne Leisure headquarters in Hemel Hempstead, the company also employs thousands of staff around the country, with around half working as seasonal team members at Haven's 36 Caravan Parks around the UK and other holiday parks and hotels.
In response to Bourne Leisure's ranking, the company's Chief Executive
John Dunford, said: "This is a fantastic achievement and I am really proud of everyone who works for our company.
"We were competing against the biggest companies in the country and to come second is phenomenal. The award is a great tribute to the commitment, dedication and enthusiasm of our Team Members in all three brands."
The inclusion in the Times list is only the latest in a long string of awards for Bourne and its subsidiaries: aside from being named as Travel Company of the Year 2008. Haven was recently named UK Travel Operator of the Year for the second year running, and received the honour of being appointed as a patron of the NSPCC after holidaymakers raised a total of £115,000 for the children's charity over the last three years.
As part of their commitment to the community, and to reflect their status as a family holidays specialist, Haven are participating in a scheme to provide sports equipment to local pre-school groups around Hemel Hempstead and Hertfordshire as part of the national Fun and Fitness scheme.
