During the start of his career, author and psychotherapist Vacir de Souza realized the lack of organized collection of topics and exercises that will cover the full spectrum of problems clinicians must deal with. The difficulty of facilitating group psychotherapy without material was experienced by de Souza and observed the challenge of clinical documentation.

These existing gaps and limitations were bridged by de Souza by writing and publishing a series of books, one of which is “Group Psychotherapy: Exercises at Hand—Volume 3” (published by iUniverse). The author designed a group session model - a unique, customizable ready-to-use model that greatly helps in the work of any psychotherapist such as in the professional documentation and records of patients.

This third book of the series, published in 2011, gives a concise, creative and systematic approach for group psychotherapy sessions that would aid psychotherapists and counselors. “Group Psychotherapy: Exercises at Hand—Volume 3” provides innovative topics and exercises meticulously created and organized in a logical sequence.

“This book provides group session models with criteria and guidance for the patient documentation and records. It provides valuate suggestions for group interactions, therapeutic interventions, techniques and treatments,” the author describes his book. “The book also contains a collection of several funny pictures with captions and matches the content of each handout. They help patients to better connect and relate to the topics, bring a humoristic environment, and help with the group climate.”
