Teleconferencing company spoofs bad airline service with new website

Fort Worth, TX (PRWEB) June 24, 2008 -- In the debut website, AccuConference Air-line visitors are greeted with promises from a new airline that includes no baggage hassles, no delays, and always the perfect seat; all at a low price. It seems too good to be true because it isn’t, sort of. AccuConference is an audio and video conferencing company spoofing airlines in a new ad campaign. The idea is to point out that it’s possible to avoid all of the hassles of flying commercial with a teleconference.

“We were coming back from a conference in Washington, D.C. and got delayed for three hours at Reagan National Airport,” said David Byrd, Vice President of Operations of AccuConference. “Of course we were frustrated, but we began to make light of all of the bad aspects of flying that people have to endure just to get to point B.”

AccuConference Air-Line was born right there on the tarmac. The ad campaign is centered on a convincing, if not tongue-in-cheek, replication of a standard airline website complete with online reservations. However, if a point of origin and destination is selected, the resulting flight time is zero.

“The point we try to make is that to have a virtual meeting, it can be as simple as picking up your phone and achieving ‘instant’ travel,” said Jim Black, President of AccuConference. “Meanwhile, you don’t have to pack, get searched, or wait in a terminal, and your seat is your own personal office chair. There are a few reasons that make flying to meet a necessity, but most occasions you can avoid the hassle with a video conference.”

While AccuConference Air-Line promises to take away the bad parts of flying, they plan to include some of the good experiences as well. Part of the campaign will be AccuConference Air-Line brand peanuts, and they hope to bring back the old airplane deck of cards. There’s no word yet on the little plastic pilot wings.
