Colleyville, Texas (PRWEB) October 16, 2006 -- VinUnici (www.VinUnici.com), a premier source of hard-to-find wines, announced today it is supporting the Dallas Women's Foundation (www.dallaswomensfoundation.org) through a donation of gift certificates at the Foundation's 21st Annual Luncheon October 23, 2006.
The Dallas Women's Foundation is a public foundation that promotes women’s philanthropy and raises money to support community programs that help women and girls realize their full potential. Created in 1985, the Dallas Women's Foundation has contributed over $6.3 million in grants to nearly 600 programs or organizations serving women and girls in Dallas, Denton and Collin counties. The organization has also built total assets of more than $11 million to ensure future grant making.
This year's keynote speaker is Wangari Maathai, who won the Nobel Peace Prize for her work in the re-forestation of Kenya. The daughter of farmers, Dr. Maathai rose from humble beginnings to become the first woman in East and Central Africa to earn a Ph.D. In 2004, she became the first African woman—and the first environmentalist—to win the Nobel Peace Prize. She is an inspiring voice for the role of ordinary people in creating social change.
VinUnici co-founder Mark Johnson noted, "We're so pleased to be associated with the Dallas Women's Foundation. I've known and worked with some of their key people and am impressed by the outstanding value the Foundation adds to our community. Being able to contribute to their good work is exciting and rewarding."
