Our mission is to help middle and high school students achieve fundamental understanding in math and science, but we designed the site with parents in mind, too. That we received the award from such a well-respected parents group lets us know we did something right.
Saint Louis, MO (Vocus) September 8, 2010
Virtual Nerd, the interactive math and science tutorial website, announced today that it has been awarded the Seal of Approval from Parent Tested Parent Approved, an online community that includes more than 40,000 independent parent testers and some of the top Mom bloggers in North America.
The Parent Tested Parent Approved award puts Virtual Nerd in the ranks of other Parent Tested Parent Approved honorees such as Disney, Snapfish and Baby Einstein, among the top rated products parents can trust.
“We are very excited to receive this seal of approval by the PTPA,” said Virtual Nerd Co-Founder and President Josh Salcman. “Our mission is to help middle and high school students achieve fundamental understanding in math and science, but we designed the site with parents in mind, too. That we received the award from such a well-respected parents group lets us know we did something right.”
The Parent Tested Parent Approved Latest and Greatest award spotlights up-and-coming companies whose products are on the cutting edge of their industry. Winners of the PTPA awards are judged based on four defining characteristics: value, functionality, quality and appeal. All products are put into the hands of consumers, and tested in-home, with the family in mind. The goal of the PTPA Seal of Approval is to appraise and promote new products designed to enrich family living.
Virtual Nerd is a self-guided math and science tutorial website, offering students in grades 7-12 access to hundreds of online video lessons. The site combines engaging, high-definition video with a patent-pending e-Learning platform that anticipates students’ questions and guides students step by step through any problem. The platform also lets students break down any problem to its most basic roots using supporting tutorials. Because the site is interactive, students can control the pace and amount of detail in each lesson to effectively learn concepts—not just find answers.
“The PTPA award is an important milestone for us,” added Salcman. “Our goal in creating Virtual Nerd was to provide the best user experience possible. To receive an award based on functionality and value, judged by the very people we want to help, validates that we have the right product for the right market.”
