Bay Wide Properties partnered with Vista Solar to install a 54kW solar system on their Silicon Valley retail building, creating a more energy efficient building for their owners and tenants.

Bay Wide Properties, a property management firm operating out of San Ramon, California, specializes in going above and beyond the ordinary property management experience. Already diligent in the day-to-day upkeep of the properties they manage, Bay Wide Properties shifted its focus towards the future. Understanding that the rising cost of electricity presented a significant burden to their property owners and a ongoing stress to their tenants, Bay Wide zeroed in on money-saving energy efficiency measures.

The owners of one of the retail properties they manage in the Bay Area, gave Bay Wide Properties the green light to perform research and make recommendations on energy efficient retrofits that could be made to their building. After reviewing various options such as HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) upgrades, interior lighting retrofits and additional duct-work improvements, it was clear to Bay Wide that installing solar would achieve the greatest impact on their overall goal – generating energy savings for their Owners and Tenants.

After working with Bay Area commercial solar installation firm, Vista Solar, to analyze the available roof space and optimize the energy bill savings, Bay Wide Properties elected to install a 54kW photovoltaic solar system – roughly the equivalent of 12 residential solar systems.

In addition to increasing the value of the building, a significant portion of the building’s PG&E utility bill would be eliminated - forever. The newly commissioned solar system is expected to save over $12,600 in the first year alone, paying for itself in just 5.5 years. The expected lifetime saving in excess of $600,000, made choosing a solar installation over other energy efficiency options an easy decision to make.

"With this flagship solar installation, Bay Wide Properties has demonstrated that solar isn’t just good for homeowners and public utilities anymore" said Jaymes Callinan, Vice President of Vista Solar. Bay Wide’s philosophy is that one must move forward or be left behind. By embracing future technologies, like solar energy, they have been able to lead the way to savings for their property owners and tenants for years to come.
