•   What is the meaning of existence?
•   What is God?
•   How does religious doctrine play into peoples daily lives?

The newly released book, Wileys Discovery -- A Fantasy Search for God" (Creek Publishing, September, 2007, available at www.wileysdiscovery.com) promises to engage both the minds and spirits of readers. Author Dr. Ernest Lane considers age old questions in new, fresh ways. Through a series of encounters with fantasy creatures, the main character, Wiley, looks for answers to serious questions like "What is God?" and "How does religious doctrine play into our daily lives?" The search is played out, with each creature teaching Wiley valuable lessons in life.

The dream world provides the reader with an accessible approach to exploring issues of great importance in peoples lives. In addition to extolling the value of wonder and of thankfulness for existence, "Wileys Discovery" examines the danger of excessive self-righteousness and certainty. In todays increasingly dangerous world, Dr. Lane points to the concern that exaggerated self-righteousness can lead to devastating decisions. One has to look no further than Oklahoma City or New York City to see the consequences of extreme doctrines--whether political or religious.

How important is religious doctrine? It can be said that the way a life is lived is more important than particular beliefs about religious doctrine. A character in Lanes book both agrees and disagrees with that statement. The interplay of discovery and the value of questioning and doubt help to provide his answers.

According to Michael Cavanaugh, Past President of The Institute on Religion in an Age of Science, "This book does a great job of making difficult concepts not only accessible, but downright enjoyable. 'Wileys Discovery' should have a place in everyones library of thought-provoking books."

Dr. Lanes latest book provides a unique light touch that eases the path for realizing different points of view and exploring questions about belief or non-belief in God, the meaning of life, fundamental values and the dangers of excessive self-righteousness.

About Dr. Ernest Lane
Since retiring from medical practice in 1989, Ernest Lane has devoted his energy and studies to finding answers to questions about God, the meaning of life, and the effects of core beliefs on our outlook and actions.

Lanes background included childhood exposure to Jewish, Protestant, and Catholic religious orientations which sparked his curiosity and created a deep interest in understanding religion and its effects on personal character. It was through his studies that he became aware of the dangers of exaggerated self-righteousness that can be associated with ones core beliefs.

Lane led a tumultuous early life, losing his parents when he was only a few weeks old and bouncing from adoptive parents to an orphanage to the care of relatives. His wide-ranging look at life -- including military service, many early jobs, and a great deal of independence -- created a foundation that developed flexibility towards not only circumstances but thoughts and viewpoints as well.

In "Wileys Discovery" Lanes research has come together in a unique fantasy journey that explores the enduring concepts of meaning and of God in our everyday lives in a way that is easy to read, entertaining, and intellectually challenging. Dr. Lanes first book, God Unmasked," received outstanding endorsements and reviews and was followed by a second book, Silverstein, Levy, Lane," an autobiography.

While in retirement, Lanes endeavors, besides his books, include enjoyment of small-scale farming and marriage to a wonderful woman.
