Danvers, MA (PRWEB) August 26, 2010

Bill Hudak, http://www.hudakforcongress.com, candidate for U.S. Congress in the Massachusetts 6th Congressional District, today issued the following statement calling on President Obama to ask for, and accept, the resignations of the senior members of his economic team, starting with Secretary of the Treasury, Timothy Geithner and Director of the National Economic Council, Lawrence Summers.

“Whether you operated a small or large business, if your financial advisors had failed as miserably as those who are directing this economy, it would make good business sense to terminate those relationships,” said Bill Hudak. “I agree with House Minority Leader John Boehner in his recent speech calling for the resignation of the president’s top economic advisors and a new economic approach for this nation.”

“After 19 months on the job, President Obama’s current economic advisors have failed to address the longest period of severe unemployment in modern history, the unsustainable national debt, the disappearance of credit for small businesses and the housing market freefall. Clearly, the Administration needs a new economic team focused on job creation, debt reduction and a return to robust growth for America.”

“Further, the Administration’s current plans to raise taxes on families and small businesses during this recession is a recipe for economic disaster,” continued Hudak. “Indeed, under the president’s proposals, virtually every American will see their taxes go up on January 1, 2011. This is why I have consistently called for the extension of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, the repeal of which would result in the largest tax increase in U.S. history. I call upon the president to not impose these job-killing tax hikes on families and small businesses.”

“The president’s proposed tax plans create a particularly acute situation for small businesses, historically the job creation engine of the U.S. economy. According to an analysis by the non-partisan Joint Tax Committee, Congress’s official tax scorekeeper, more than half of small business income in America would face higher taxes under the president’s plans. This is unacceptable and flies in the face of common sense.”

“President John F. Kennedy once said that ‘an economy constrained by high tax rates will never produce enough revenue to balance the budget, just as it will never create enough jobs.’ That was true during JFK’s time, and it is equally true today.”

“Also, there are rumblings from the Democrat-controlled Congress that the so-called lame duck session provides the opportunity to ram through a series of bills that would further negatively impact our economy,” said Hudak. “In light of this threat, the President also should announce that he will veto these measures sent in desperation to his desk by a lame-duck Congress.”

“I call on my opponent, Congressman John Tierney to pledge that during the 2010 lame-duck session he will vote against the passage of legislation harmful to the middle-class, including: ‘card check’; a national energy tax; and any other job-killing tax increases on families and small businesses,” concluded Hudak.
