Designed for first-timers (ages six and older for skiers, eight and older for snowboarders), the "Guaranteed Learn to Ski & Ride" daytime program starts at $64 for adults and $54 for youths (mid-week rates) and include a limited area lift ticket, lesson and rental package. Upon completion of the first lesson, guests will be issued a Guaranteed Learn to Ski & Ride card that enables them to return two more times for the low price of $59, which again includes limited area lift ticket and rentals, plus the next level of lesson. Weekend rates for adults are $77; youths are $62. Rates vary during the holiday seasons.

Lesson times on a daily basis are 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Night programs for beginners also are offered at 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays, and are priced at $50 for adults and are $40 for youths.

If a guest completes all three progressive lessons, they are offered the option to purchase a season lift pass ($149/adult, $69/youth or student) and $49 rental pass for the remainder of the current ski and ride season, as well as a $100 credit toward the purchase of an equipment package at participating local retailers. Additionally, program participants who complete the lesson requirements will receive a $50 season pass discount on the 2010-11 ski and snowboard season.

Hours of operation for the 2009-10 season are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays.

For skiers and snowboarders, Wintergreen offers 26 slopes on 129 skiable acres with high-speed chairlifts. The resort features the region's most extensive beginner-to-expert terrain, with nearly one-quarter especially designed for beginners. Fourteen slopes are lighted for night skiing and the resort's longest run is 1.4 miles. Two terrain parks and the region's top snowtubing park accent the winter recreational offerings. With the forecast for this winter expected to be colder than normal and Wintergreen Resorts multi-million dollar snowmaking equipment, the slopes are being readied for a December 12 opening.
