Over a year ago, online retailer Woodburning-Stoves.co.uk decided to treat visitors to a pleasant view upon entering the website with a webcam mounted atop the building. Many websites only think about sales and don’t even consider the customers, but not everyone has the same opinion when it comes to selling online...

“We knew adding a webcam to the site would give shoppers that something extra... Although the view isn’t always great to look at it, it’s a nice thing to have and we hope it makes shoppers remember us” explains James Cook, E-Commerce Assistant.

There has been a considerable amount of drama over the past year with the webcam, especially in the gale-force winds that hit towards the end of 2012; but thankfully it has survived the storms and continues to put on a brave face.

The guys & girls at WoodburnerWorld are definitely in the webcam’s debt, as over the past 72 hours it has raked in thousands of visitors that are all desperate to see the snowy landscape of the West Midlands – in particular, Bredon Hill.

Product Manager, Paul Dickinson suggested the following: “Whilst you’re checking out the snow falling from the comfort of your own home, consider how much warmer and happier you’d be with a wood burning stove alight in the same room. The warmth and the atmosphere as the family gathers around it – have I sold you on it yet? Even if I haven’t, check out the rest of the site when you get bored of watching snow as we have some cracking winter deals currently on!”

Well, a tiny bit of hard-selling there from Paul, but nothing that doesn’t make sense... He actually forgot to mention the green credentials of a stove, but if it’s something you’re genuinely interested in, there’s some FAQ’s and guides on the WoodburnerWorld site to help out.

Woodburning-Stoves.co.uk (AKA. WoodburnerWorld) is currently ran from the Online Home Retail Network which at present hosts in excess of 50 websites. Scattered amongst these sites is a wide range of products varying from gardening equipment to power tools and all the way to bathroom furniture. Online Home Retail Limited first started out as Plumbworld Ltd back in 1999 and since then it has been bought by the Grafton Group PLC in 2006 and received a major rebrand in 2012. The business now employs 60 people in its purpose built warehouse/offices and has a total turnover nearing £25 million per year.
