John R. Wooden Classic to Air Locally on KCAL 9 Sports and Nationally on Superstation WGN and HDNet

Both games will also be heard on AM 570 KLAC in Southern California.

Anaheim, CA (PRWEB) November 28, 2007 -- College basketball fans around the country will tune in on Saturday, December 8, to catch the action of the 14th Annual John Wooden Classic presented by Toyo Tires. Local news favorite KCAL 9, along with nationally syndicated stations HDNet and Superstation WGN (UCLA vs. Davidson only) will be on hand to broadcast the event. In addition, San Diego local station Channel 4 and Northern California station Comcast SportsNet West will broadcast the San Diego State - Saint Mary's match up. AM 570 KLAC will carry both games on the radio.

Game one will feature San Diego State facing off against Saint Mary's College. Long time John R. Wooden Classic participant and #1 ranked UCLA will take on Davidson College in the second game of the day.

The broadcast of the event is live from Honda Center in Anaheim, California, beginning at 11:30 a.m. PST. The first game is set to start at 12 p.m. PST and tip-off for game two will be approximately 2 p.m. PST.

In addition to both Wooden Classic games being heard in Southern California on AM 570 KLAC, each school's local market will carry the games on their flagship radio station.

Established in 1994, the Wooden Classic is an annual tribute to the legendary former coach and the excellence he personifies. The event, co-produced by Pantheon International, LLC and Anaheim Arena Management, LLC, has a tradition of bringing the nation's finest college programs to Southern California.

In addition to college basketball, the week includes an annual charity golf tournament and coaches benefit dinner, both presented by Ditech. The golf tournament is on Thursday, December 6 at Oak Creek Golf Club in Irvine. The coaches benefit dinner on Friday, December 7 at the Anaheim Marriott, includes appearances by Coach Wooden, Steve Fisher of San Diego State, Randy Bennett of Saint Mary's, Ben Howland of UCLA and Bob McKillop of Davidson as well as the presentation of the inaugural Pyramid Award to Olympian Rafer Johnson. Both events benefit Special Olympics Southern California and Orangewood Children's Foundation.
