Designed for students in middle school, World Book's Living Green is a 9-volume set that explores a spectrum of environmental issues. It examines causes and consequences of pollution, the major ecosystems and the current threats they face, and principles of green building and transportation. The series also investigates green issues in food production and consumption and offers a room-by-room tour of green practices that can be used at home.

Activities and practical information on how to "go green" as well as a list of print and Internet sources provide students with additional resources to encourage further exploration of environmental issues.

Titles in the 9-volume, 576-page Living Green set include:

  • Pollution
  • Consumable Goods
  • Oceans, Islands, and Polar Regions
  • Green Transportation
  • Durable Goods
  • Forests and Wetlands
  • Mountains, Deserts, and Grasslands
  • Green Buildings
  • Producing and Obtaining Food

"Young people are genuinely concerned about the environment. They want to understand environmental issues and what they can do to preserve and enhance the world we live in," said Patti Ginnis, chief marketing officer for World Book. "World Book's Living Green series provides a framework for learning about environmental issues and a foundation for helping students make environmentally educated decisions."
