It's a Magical Year for New York Yankees Tickets

The Yankees are headed towards the playoffs and are likely to reach the World Series. They have the best record in baseball right now and are the favorites to represent the American League in the World Series.

Riverdale, NJ (PRWEB) September 23, 2009 -- It's the end of the baseball season and with their winning record, New York Yankees tickets are the hottest tickets in baseball right now, according to SelectATicket.com. Yankee fans are watching and rooting for the Yankees to make the World Series.

This is the first season for the Yankees in the new Yankee Stadium. What better way to open the building than with a championship season? Eight baseball teams will make the playoffs - four each in the American and National Leagues. The three division champs and one wild card - which is the team with the best record that does not win a division - qualify for the postseason.

"The Yankees are currently in 1st place in the American League East. They hold a 5 game lead over Boston with just under two weeks remaining," said Mark Gibbons, who's responsible for internet sales at SelectATicket.com.

Other teams looking to win their divisions in the American League are the Detroit Tigers in the Central Division and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the West," said Gibbons.
On the National League side the West Division's Los Angeles Dodgers currently have the best record. The East's Philadelphia Phillies and the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central Division are also having strong seasons.

Three of the star/most popular players on the Yankees are Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriquez and Mariano Rivera. However the die-hard Yankee fans in the bleacher section, affectionately dubbed the "Bleacher Creatures", will do their roll call each game, in calling out every player by name until that player acknowledges them with a wave. They perform a variety of chants throughout the game -- a tradition which carried over from the original Yankee Stadium.

Already a historically significant season with the opening of the new stadium, 2009 held another major event for Yankees fans -- a new franchise record was set. On September 11, 2009 vs. the Baltimore Orioles, Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter set the all-time record for most base hits by a New York Yankee when he collected his 2,722nd hit. This surpassed the previous record that has been held by Lou Gehrig since 1939.
