L.T.’s story about overcoming addiction and dealing with the pressures of life during and after football was an inspiration to us all.

Lawrence “L.T.” Taylor will go down in history as one of the greatest -- if not the single greatest -- linebackers in the history of the game. And while Taylor’s legendary toughness helped make him a virtually automatic first ballot NFL Hall of Fame inductee in 1999, in some ways it was his battles away from the gridiron with drugs that, more than anything else, challenged the limits of his strength and will. It was a life-and-death struggle that the now sober 55-year old Taylor courageously discussed in front of a rapt audience of A Forever Recovery clients on November 24.

“Like millions of people across the country and around the world, I remember watching L.T. strike utter fear into the hearts of quarterbacks and pretty much anyone else who dared to stand in his way,” commented A Forever Recovery’s Per Wickstrom, who, like Taylor, also struggled with addiction and now uses that experience to help others on the road to lasting sobriety. “L.T.’s story about overcoming addiction and dealing with the pressures of life during and after football was an inspiration to us all. We couldn’t be more grateful that he took time from his busy schedule to speak with our clients!”

In addition to sharing his story and inspiring clients, Taylor also signed autographs for AFR clients and staff; many of whom remarked afterwards that it was one of the most memorable experiences they’ve ever had, and one that they will never forget.

Cognitive approaches have excellent success, whereas others thrive within a more holistic approach. A Forever Recovery allows clients to choose from a wide range of recovery methodologies, coupled with Moral Recognition Therapy (MRT), to achieve success rates unmatched in the addiction treatment industry. The bottom line is that there is no single therapeutic approach to recovery that works for everyone… until now.
