Special Learning, Inc. a comprehensive autism solutions company announced today that it is hosting four 120-minute live webcasts that will be broadcasted on February 28, 2012. Topics on Decreasing Problem Behavior with a FBA, Legislation and Resources for BCBA/BCaBA Autism Task List Requirements section A and E, and Comprehensive Supervision of BCaBA's and Practicum Experience Requirements will be covered individually in separate time slots.
This 120-minute webcast on Strategies to Increase Beginner Classroom Participation Skills: Decreasing Problem Behavior with a FBA: Part 1 will identify the challenging behaviors children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) may exhibit and will be presented by Ms. Christine Austin, BCaBA and Ms. Michele LaMarche, BCBA. This presentation, which is designed for BCBA’s and BCaBA’s looking for further training on direct FBA implementation, school behavior specialists, teachers and other professionals working with a child with autism and related disorders, is aimed to enable participants to gain knowledge on various assessment tools and assist them to become competent in implementation.
The live webcast on “History and Culture of Autism & Development of Systems and Supports: Training on the BACB Autism Task List Sections A & E” is designed for BCaBA’s and BCBA’s. Discussion will include key historical events of ASDs, cultural views within the autism community, myths, fads and controversies of treatment, legislation and legal issues, and advocacy and funding resources. This will be presented by Ms. Marla Root and Ms. Michele LaMarche, BCBA.
The “Comprehensive Supervision of BCaBA's and Practicum Experience Requirements” presentation is a webcast designed to provide participants with a thorough discussion and guideline on the absolute “Must Haves” for supervision compliance and ethical considerations. It will also discuss on the areas of quality supervision and of taking supervision to the next level. This live webcast will be presented by Ms. Erin Lombard, M.Ed., BCBA.

About the Speakers
Marla Root is the Director of Community Affairs and Advocacy with Step By Step Academy in Worthington, Ohio. She has worked with hundreds of individuals and families throughout state. She is the 2010 advocate of the year recipient awarded by The Governor's Council for People with Disabilities. Ms. Root has been advocating for funding and services since 1998 when her son was diagnosed with autism. Marla is currently a board member for the Autism Society of Ohio, Ohio Association of Behavior Analysis and Food For Good Thought. She is a member of the Ohio Association of Behavior Analysis. Marla has a Bachelor of Science Finance degree from Franklin University.
Michele LaMarche is the co-founder of Special Learning, Inc. and the founder and Executive Director of Step By Step Academy (SBSA), a highly-regarded center-based non-profit Autism treatment center in Columbus, Ohio. She has over fifteen years of professional experience in the field of ABA, where she uses her knowledge of behavioral treatment to produce groundbreaking, effective, empirically validated curricula, a critical factor in successfully mainstreaming hundreds of students with ASD. With her credentials and work through Special Learning and SBSA, she has changed the lives of countless individuals and families affected by ASD.
Erin Lombard is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and a certified Special Education educator currently teaching graduate level Positive Behavior Support courses at Northern Arizona University. She holds an undergraduate degree in Child and Adolescent Studies and a master’s degree in Special Education obtained in California State University and University of North Texas respectively. She is currently working on her Ph.D. in Psychology at Capella University.
