Ability Center, one of the nation’s leading providers of handicap vans and wheelchair lifts for individuals with physical disabilities, organized a celebration for PVA team members from southern Arizona competing in the Annual National Veterans Wheelchair Games. Held on September 9th at the Indio Mexican Restaurant, the celebration honored the team’s commitment to excellence and their spirit of competition.

The Annual National Veterans Wheelchair Games is held every year in August, and has become the largest annual wheelchair sports competition in the world. Featuring 17 different sports for competitors, the purpose of the games is to promote physical and mental rehabilitation through rigorous competition. A few of the sports competitions here include archery, swimming, handcycling, rugby and many others.

Not only are the games designed to showcase individuals with physical disabilities playing at championship levels, but they’re also designed to foster understanding and a sense of belonging. This is done by introducing disabled veterans to other athletes in wheelchairs, as well as by showing just what can be achieved by an individual with physical disabilities.

The PVA team from southern Arizona performed admirably, bringing home 23 medals between the team members. To celebrate their accomplishment and honor their commitment to the games, Ability Center organized a celebration to congratulate their achievement and honor their efforts. Ability Center works very closely with PVA organizations to provide quality services to their members, and the company is intensely proud of the team’s achievement. “It is a privilege for the Ability Center to show our support to the PVA. They gave so much for our country it is our way of showing them our love, admiration and friendship.” – Stuart Chamberlain, Ability Center Store Manager, Tucson, AZ.
