At Ability Center, we support MDA and their events as MD affects many of our clients.

Ability Center is proud to announce that Keith Miller, Mobility Sales Specialist at our San Diego store, has been selected to receive the 2011 Volunteer of the Year Award. Every year, each member of Combined Health Agencies selects an outstanding volunteer who has given freely of their time, talent, and resources to improve the health and well-being of the clients they serve. This year, the Muscular Dystrophy Association selected Keith to receive this outstanding award. The Annual reception honors individuals selected by the charity for their contribution, dedication and commitment to better health for all San Diegans.

“At Ability Center, we support MDA and their events as MD affects many of our clients. MDA San Diego is an excellent non-profit. Almost 80 cents of every dollar they raise goes to helping individuals and families with MD, not overhead; and they keep all of that in San Diego and Imperial Counties, impacting the people right here in our community; people we know and love.” Further, Keith reports, “the events are run so well by MDA staff that volunteers really want to help. We see the impact MDA has on individuals and families dealing with MD. It is important to us at Ability Center to support organizations that serve our customers. I am honored to receive this recognition for myself and Ability Center for simply doing the right thing, i.e. helping others as we are able, hopefully making today and tomorrow a little brighter for someone else. I know of no other investment that yields such a high return”. He concludes.

This is the second time that Keith has been selected for this award, having been honored as 2009 Volunteer of the Year by the ALS Association. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Nice Guys charity.

The Volunteer of the Year Awards will take place on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 6 pm, at the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park.
