Dr. Jorge Delgado, Managing Editor of academic editing service TotalEdit.com, was recently elected to serve as the Co-Chairperson of the Higher Education Special Interest Group (HESIG) of the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) (http://higheredsig.org/). The HESIG is the largest special interest group within the CIES, an association committed to comparative, international, and development education.
“This is a great opportunity and a vote of confidence the HESIG members gave me,” Dr. Delgado stated. “As the new Co-Chairperson, I plan to encourage HESIG members to propose more collaborative projects and to create more opportunities for them to get involved in the HESIG activities. I’ve always believed in the importance of developing a strong sense of community within organizations.”
The mission of the HESIG is to promote scholarship opportunities worldwide, open a dialogue in the field of education, and serve as a networking base for professionals and academics involved in the globalization of higher education. The HESIG also aims to support the development and distribution of many higher education related policies and practices around the world.
Dr. Jorge Delgado replaces Dr. W. James Jacob, current President of academic editing service TotalEdit.com, who served as the inaugural HESIG Co-Chairperson from 2008-2014; Dr. Qiang Zha of York University is the other Co-Chairperson of the Higher Education Special Interest Group. Dr. Delgado previously served as the HESIG Secretary from 2008 when the Special Interest Group was founded until his election to the chair position in 2014.
