Most commonly utilized by superheroes and secret agents looking for a quick jaunt between buildings, the zipline has become a popular tourist attraction for outdoor adventurers. When West Virginia adventure vacation specialists at ACE Adventure Resort decided to go for the Guinness World Record for most trips down a zipline in one hour, they didn't call on Bond or Batman. They turned to their patrons to help them make history.

ACE Adventure Resort has put out an open call to anyone across the nation over 18 years of age, over 125 pounds and able to walk a quarter mile up a moderate hill grade to join them in attempting to break the record for most zippers down a zip line in one hour. Resort staffers—specialists in white water rafting and other outdoor activities along the New River Gorge National River—hope to get 150 participants in just 60 minutes.

Zippers at Waldklettergarten climbing park in Enzklösterle, Germany set the previous record by sending 122 adventurers down their rope slide on May 2, 2010. On June 3, 2012, ACE hopes to have enough participants to beat the old record handily.

"We are going to crush the old record," says Marketing Manager Beth Gill. "As one of the most well-respected West Virginia resorts for white water rafting, ATV tours, rock climbing and pretty much any other outdoor activity you can imagine, we attract adventurers from across the country. We are confident that, from the moment we issue this challenge, our guests and those in the community will join in to help us bring this record to the USA!"

With two new ziplines, the ACE canopy tour now offers speeds over 40 mph, heights of over 100 feet, a brand new, 800-foot zipline addition and 50-foot double-decker viewing tower. Through social media, an e-mail campaign and other marketing efforts, ACE is working to get the word out about the challenge so that, between these new additions and this exciting challenge, zip enthusiasts will be lining up to help break the record.

Sitting on 1500 acres of wilderness along the New River Gorge in Oak Hill, West Virginia, ACE Adventure Resort was designated as the largest adventure resort in North America by the Travel Channel in 2010. ACE Adventure Resort offers a slew of exciting activities for any speed. From paddleboats to paintball, their guides and various offerings bring atmosphere and adrenaline to any family vacation.
