ACS Technologies’ Developers Publish Book On iPhone® Applications

ACS Technologies, the world’s leading provider of church management software solutions, announced today that two of its top software developers are nationally published authors of the new book iPhone Game Development.

Florence, SC (PRWEB) November 9, 2009 -- ACS Technologies, the world’s leading provider of church management software solutions, announced today that two of its top software developers are nationally published authors of the new book iPhone Game Development.

The two developers, Jamey McElveen, Lead Software Architect, and Chris Craft, Senior Software Architect, said the book began as an experiment while learning how to develop useful iPhone applications for ACS Technologies to make available to their clients.

“I needed to test something, so I made a flame app,” McElveen said.”My whole reason was just to learn how to do it for the ACS™ product I was working on.” That simple test application turned into a highly popular download at the iPhone App Store, offering concert-goers a virtual flame they could hold aloft in honor of their favorite musicians and songs.

Craft, a two-time Microsoft Most Valuable Professional, had recently completed a blog series called 31 Days of Windows Mobile Development. So together they decided to do the same for the iPhone and came up with the blog, www.appsamuck.com to share their knowledge.

The blog became extremely popular and caught the attention of Wiley Publishing, Inc. Wiley knew a book, like the blog, would be used worldwide. The book offers both novice and advanced game developers the skills they need to develop the applications ranging from the basic to the complex, including:

  • Basic technologies such as Multi-Touch Control and accelerometer support
  • A variety of applications currently available in the iPhone App Store
  • Advanced programming tips and tricks to take game development to the next level
  • Facebook® integration, peer-to-peer connectivity, and networking
  • Advice about creating games that yield higher returns and cost-effective ways to promote games
The book also comes with a Companion Web site which provides royalty free codes to make it easy to jump right into developing the next best-selling iPhone application.

“These guys are huge assets to the R&D team here at ACS Technologies,” stated Steve Cumbia, executive director of research and development. “They’re the best out there and we’re all proud to work alongside them. We have a great team here, and Jamey and Chris are two examples of all we’re doing in helping our nearly 50,000 clients every day.”

When asked about their plans for another book or blog they say, “Well, our goal is to help churches use the latest technology to do their ministry better. If another book or blog can help that…then fine by us.”

iPhone Game Development is available today at amazon.com and other national retailers.
