Explore Talent released an article today about US Weekly's exclusive interview with Olympic gold medal winner Gabby Douglas.
Douglas, just 16-years-old, made history by being the first African American woman to win the gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London Women's All-Around final competition on Thursday. Douglas told US Weekly that she could not resist seeing her name in print.
"I googled 'Gabby Douglas,' and all these things popped up like 'Gabby Douglas makes history!' And 'She's the champion! It was an amazing feeling. I was looking at all the pictures of me on the podium."
Douglas also admitted that she was thrilled when President Barack Obama called her: "It was an amazing experience and such an honor. I was like 'Oh, Mr. President, it's so nice to meet you -- I mean, talk to you! Sorry.'"
Douglas said that she will keep on competing: "I'm definitely going to keep going. I don't think I'm going to retire just yet. People tell me I'm too young, and I want to stick with it."
