News reported on January 31 that the Mayor of Hoboken, New Jersey, denied the planned spinoff a permit to shoot in the city, they didn't give up, and searched for another location.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer stated in a letter to MTV, that was published by E! News, that "After careful deliberation, the members of the film commission, including representatives from Health and Human Services, Environmental Services, and the Administration, with input from our public safety officials, have determined that in the interest of public safety and quality of life, the permit application for 495 Productions/MTV's production of the Jersey Shore spin-off has
been denied."

However, now E! News reports that production is back on due to the permit that was given to the spinoff from the Mayor of Jersey City.

"My view is the more people that see anything about Jersey City and see what we have in Jersey, the better it is for Jersey City," Mayor Jerramiah Healy told New York Daily News (2/8/2012).
