The concierge industry has expanded over the last decade from just serving luxury hotel guests to now taking care of the everyday needs of those in the mainstream. To promote active senior living, ActiveCare offers concierge services for seniors and people with disabilities that help maintain daily affairs while letting people remain in their homes.

“Traditional tasks like planning senior-friendly vacations, scheduling medical appointments or help with calendar reminders may all be handled over the phone,” said Jack Johnson, a board member for ActiveCare.

He said that in-person care may also be arranged, including services like meal preparation specific to dietary needs, personal hygiene assistance, housekeeping, errands, shopping and transportation arrangements. Visit http://activecare.com/ for more information.

Officials from ActiveCare compared its services with other unique concierges:

Credit Card

Some may already have access to concierge services through their credit cards, but might not be aware of it. VISA Signature, MasterCard World Elite and American Express Platinum and Centurion all offer concierge services. Cardholders can get assistance with a variety of tasks including securing dining reservations, help with travel arrangements, shopping assistance and more.

Red Butler

Red Butler is a service that starts as low as $9.95 and offers everything from personal assistant work to help booking travel to getting hard-to-find tickets. The service comes with personal, professional and corporate level memberships where customers purchase the number of times they can call and use their services.

Senior Lifestyle Concierge

Seniors needing assistance with day-to-day tasks or special needs specific to their lifestyle may rely on a senior lifestyle concierge service like ActiveCare. Specialists help with a variety of tasks on the phone or in person.

Corporate Concierge

With many employees feeling a strain on time, numerous corporations are beginning to offer concierge services as an added benefit. Some companies offer an onsite concierge, while others offer an online concierge. Services include home repair referrals, help getting tickets and assistance with errands. Organizations like Campbell’s Soup, Meridian Health and Mercedes-Benz USA use the services to help employees save time.

Luxury Concierge

There are also concierge services at the level of “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.” These concierges thrive on making the impossible possible. Concetto Marletta has been the lead concierge at top London hotels including Claridges, Mandarin Oriental and The Dorchester. He recently started his own concierge company called Indispensable. For an undisclosed annual fee, Marletta fills the most challenging of requests. For example, one client wanted six Versace dresses that were no longer available. Using his connections, he contacted Donatella Versace directly to have the dresses remade. A high-end luxury concierge will go to extreme lengths to make something happen.
